You Have Plenty!
Mark 14:18–21 (NIV)
You Have Plenty!
18 “Bring them here to me,” he said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.”
Recently, I was listening to the story of Jesus feeding the multitudes, and I was reminded that we have enough. So many times, we are hesitant to offer help and assistance because we think what we have is not sufficient. Too often, we miss the opportunity to see a miracle in the Lord multiplying what we have because we are looking at our resources with natural sight. When we see our bank account, we are looking at it with natural sight instead of recognizing the inheritance we have access to as members of the royal High Priest’s family. Too often, we think our home is too small to host an event or our vision is not big enough to support a larger goal.
But Mark 14 reminds us to bring what we have and ask the Lord to bless it so it will multiply—so it will overflow to the point that there is more than enough to continue into the next day, the next week, the next year.
Where are you focusing your faith? Are you looking at your current resources with natural sight, or with the supernatural power that the Lord will provide all things needed for that calling? That thing that has been in your heart, but you feel insufficient to meet the need—you may have forgotten to go before Jesus and give Him what you have, asking Him to multiply it for the kingdom.
My brothers and sisters, we have more than enough…but perhaps we are not being good stewards. Remember the servants who received talents, and how one of them hid his. What has God given you that, instead of investing into His kingdom, you have hidden away and left unusable?
Yes, we too are to be good stewards over everything we have. How are we increasing and overflowing our gifts into the lives of others? How are we trusting the Lord with what looks small, allowing Him to increase it?
Are you allowing fear—fear that your five loaves and two fish will not be enough—to stop you? Have you forgotten who gave you the five loaves and two fish, and His ability to increase them beyond your expectations?
Sisters and brothers, what are you doing with those talents?
Stop hiding them.
Stop sitting and admiring them for yourself.
You have been given the vision, and you have enough.
Look to heaven and ask Him to bless what you have—and then execute the assignment.
You Have Plenty!
