Deliberately Me!

A journey for those seeking contentment in a deliberate God

R.E.S.T

Good morning, afternoon, and evening,

As always, I was wondering what I would write for April’s monthly post, and what I thought about is that April is my rest month.

Yea…what does that mean?

Well, back in 2021, the Lord was explaining R.E.S.T is not about sleep, but to rest in Him.

Rest in just being.
Rest in just doing nothing.
Rest in silence and not doing stimulating activities.

Rest. Slow down. Recharge.

It means to cut out everything: 1:1 catchups inside and outside of work, eating out with friends, and going to events. It means being comfortable at home and enjoying the quiet of not giving or receiving from others, but only receiving all from Him and not having to pour into others.

During 2021, He helped me create a concept of R.E.S.T., and so that is your homework for April.

Resting God’s Way
Ready to Enter a State of Time out!”

Your homework is to list every area you are involved in, both personally and professionally, even if it is only once or twice a year.

To help you get started, here are some examples:

Parent, caretaker, employee, employer, people leader, volunteer, facilitator, daughter or son, writer, chef, organizer, host, church activities, spouse, participant, friend.

And the list goes on and on.

Based on that, are you able to identify the areas where you are receiving (poured into), giving (pouring out), or both?

How often are these done?

How often are there rest days or weeks scheduled for yourself? And I do not mean vacations, spa days, or time with family or friends.

I mean rest days where you sit your bottom down and do absolutely nothing but REST in Him.

Yea…I thought so.

Do the homework and then sit with God, pray, and ask Him what His thoughts are. If He does not answer, make time again with Him until He does.

REST is mentioned throughout the BIBLE, so why do we think we should continue without taking time to actually, actively REST?

Matthew 11:28-30 MSG

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
