Community. Commune. Come.
Good morning, afternoon, and evening,
I wasn’t sure what topic to provide for the month of May, as so much has happened in April. But I wanted to send a strong reminder and encourage all of us to be committed to community.
Currently, I am in the process of seeking a new career opportunity, and anyone who has looked for jobs or even thought of changing their career understands the difficulty that comes with those endeavors.
But one thing has been my constant (besides the Lord). It has been my community.
I thank the Lord all the time for the relationships I have and the thoughtfulness of others in my life.
When someone texts me and asks to have live prayer with me. When someone puts their stuff aside to say, “Can I pray for you?” and does it. Well… words cannot express my gratitude. When someone sends you prayers and encouragement on your interview days and reminds you, “You got this!”
When someone reminds you all the time that they are in this thing with you and not just standing on the sideline, watching from afar.
So I will not do a long message this time, but just a little push to be the community. Be an active part in your community. Ask for help from your community. Do not shun those who love and support you in your community. And yea… for those who do not have a community, I strongly encourage you to ask God to send you people who will support you. But be willing to accept whatever community He sends, because it is not always the people you think will be your biggest help.
And side note… community might just be one or two people, and community can change in different seasons. It may not be family or close friends. It might be that amazing colleague who takes a genuine interest in you and has concern for you. It might be a friend that you don’t talk to often, but their support is 100. You know what I mean—the friend that does what they say they are going to do. And lastly, be open to receive community. Be open to pray for those around you as well to have community.
I understand all our lives and experiences are different. But the Lord withholds no good thing. So if you lack community, then pray and be open to what He wants to do for you and the community that is on the way.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Hebrews 10:24–25
nd let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
